My Pregnancy: 35 weeks and counting…

We’re back from our AMAZING babymoon and like usual, I packed up the car on the final day chanting “ONE MORE DAY! ONE MORE DAY!” Not only did we pick the perfect spot to unwind and relax, the weather was on our side the entire trip. Upper 70’s and low 80’s during the day made for great workouts and days by the pool, while cool nights persuaded us to flip on the fireplace, enjoy the colorful sunset from our patio, and melt into the couch as we read baby books and watched movies. I know it’s too soon to say I want to go back, but I really do WANT TO GO BACK!

Early this week we had another doctor’s appointment (they are about every two weeks until week 37, when they make the turn to weekly appointments) and Baby Brickhouse is getting big! She kept her head buried in my hip during the entire ultrasound so unfortunately we didn’t get any good images, but measurements looked good and she’s in her final growth phase – 5lbs 14oz this week! And…she has hair, but we aren’t sure how much. She sure is making us wait until here arrival to get a clear picture of what she’s going to look like. Delayed gratification at its finest!

Workouts are still going great, although I’ve noticed a small increase in Braxton Hicks contractions this week. Luckily, they don’t hurt too bad. They feel more like a tightening with a little discomfort and only seem to come on when I’m doing cardio or when I bend over. Hopefully they stay relatively mild until the real contractions are here.

My eating and cravings haven’t changed much and the heartburn still lingers on. When I look at my pregnancy as a whole, there really isn’t much to complain about. I’m only up about 22lbs, my nausea was limited to the first trimester, my cravings are relatively mild, I haven’t experienced swelling, and most of my pre-pregnancy clothes still fit. I do have heartburn like I’ve never experienced in my life, sleeping is becoming more and more uncomfortable, and I still have a lot of food aversions, but if that’s the worst of it, I can’t really complain. My hormones are back level ground, or so I think, and I’m feeling almost zen-like as I wait for the end to come.
